Teams to Celebrate

U18H

Submitted by Manager, Cynthia St. Thomas

U18H had a season of ups and downs. The team was made up of 10 third year players, 1 second year player, 9 first year players and an overage goalie. Despite being an oversized team we managed to not have to sit anyone out in any game. It did take a bit of time for the team to get to know each other as half of the team had never been on a team with the other half due to the age differences. It took a bit of time to find our groove which showed in the standings and our team placed 5th out of 6 teams in league play. All but two of our losses through the season though were 2 goals or less. We won 2, tied 1 and lost 9 in regular season play.

We managed to find wins at the right time though and as we came into playoffs, the team’s strength shone through. Playoffs in Nakusp gave the team a chance to show their improvement and we finished the round robin with 1 win, 1 loss and 1 tie. On the final day the team won their semi final game over the host team giving the boys a chance to win the banner. In a very close game our U18 boys lost to Trail by 2, the final goal being an empty netter. We will be saying good-bye to 11 of our 21 players as they graduate from NMHA but hope they have many fond memories of their years in minor hockey.
